Most grain in the UK is stored in large, open and airy buildings, designed not just for grain but for other uses throughout the year – wintering cattle or sheep, lambing, fertiliser, machinery storage, etc.

Quality Assurance schemes for combinable crops require specific standards for grain storage. You will have to ensure that your buildings are up to standard before the verifier visits your farm. To qualify, they must be weatherproof, and birdproof - therefore they cannot be left 'open' anymore.
